CHELWOOD BRIDGE ROTARY

JOINT WINNERS OF THE RIBI PR TROPHY 2006

The following Press release has been received from the President of Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland:

Congratulations on jointly winning the RIBI PR Trophy Competition.

The joint winners for 2006 were yourselves and South Cotswolds. The citation from the judges is as follows:

Based on the criteria of the competition the judges have awarded the RIBI PR Trophy to two clubs, both

had outstanding projects raising Rotary’s profile in the community. Both gained excellent media coverage

            and community involvement.

            The joint winners are:

Rotary Club of Chelwood Bridge - ‘Operation Aquabox’

Rotary Club of South Cotswolds - ‘Westonbirt Rotary Centenary Glade’

The Trophy will be held by the South Cotswolds Club for the first six months, after which it will be passed to us.

Photo shows Rotarian Ray Sanderson (South Cotswolds) and Hugo Pike when we recently entertained eight members of the South Cotswolds Club and enjoyed a most informative presentation by Honorary Rotarian Hugh Angus (Head of the Trees Collection at the National Arboretum, Westonbirt)

Hugo Pike was responsible for preparing the dossier of evidence in support of our bid, but the award also recognises the tremendous efforts of all members of the Club and of the many volunteers who assisted us throughout the six months duration of ‘Operation Aquabox’
