Foundation- Spike Parker

 The Rotary Foundation is the charitable trust of Rotary International. The Foundation supports many international charity ventures. Its most important long term project is the eradication of Polio worldwide. The Foundation promotes and funds cultural exchanges between countries under the Group Study Exchange Scheme. The Foundation provides support through District grants for financial assistance with charity projects at the club level.

The Foundation Committee are responsible for reviewing all Foundation literature and for keeping the club informed of Foundation developments. The Foundation committee chairman will remind club members of the need to make individual and club contributions to the Foundation. The committee chairman will also assist members in any matching grant submission they may wish to make to District.

Members of Chelwood Bridge are invited to compete in various regular KO competitions against other District 1200 clubs throughout the year. These competitions include:-

Bridge Indoor bowls Cricket Golf Skittles Snooker (and occasionally Darts and Tennis).

An overall rotary club champion for each event is thus established.

Depending on the clubs interest we enter teams for most of these competitions. Golf, skittles and snooker are always well supported.

We also enter two teams for the National Rotary Golf KO Championship. This is competed for initially at district level with the overall winner competing nationally in September at Nottingham.

We also raise money by hosting a Charity Golf Competition. This year it is being held at Farrington Golf & Country Club on Monday 15th May 2006.
