Service Projects Committee

This committee represents the main thrust of the work of the Rotary Club of Chelwood Bridge. It is responsible for a wide range of projects both locally and abroad which are in line with the stated emphases of Rotary International, namely Health, Hunger, Water, Literacy. It also has a specific emphasis on youth opportunities. 

The way the committee is structured allows all our members to participate in a wide arrange of events.  We have a stated aim to get close to our local community through funding and using our vocational skills. 

Recent and current projects include:

Sending over 2000 Aquaboxes following the Tsunami and continuing to do this through our charitable Trust Worldwaterworks Ltd.

Cabaret night – raising the funds to support local needs

Road Marshalling at the Sherborne Ironman event

Collecting books and mobile phones for needy parts of the world

Stewarding the Pensford 10k Run and the Pensford Music Festival

Providing tools for Natureworks a local charity

Supporting Send a Cow – to provide livestock to African countries

Providing gifts and Santa to a local community

Providing manpower for the Stanton Drew Flower Festival

Various collections for charitable causes at shops and shopping malls

Sponsoring young people on expeditions such as Operation Raleigh 

Future events include

Community Award – to recognise people who contribute to local affairs in a significant way

Rotary Youth Speaks debating competition for schools

Youth Cricket competition in 2008

Is Childs Play – a sponsored walk for The Children's Hospice

Bavarian night in May 2008

Charity Golf Day –Summer 2008
